Llamas for Sale

At Hurricane Creek Llamas my sales philosophy is to match the right llama with the right buyer. I want both my llamas and their new owners to be content with the arrangement. Some llamas make excellent packing companions, others may prove better as a sheep guard or a fiber producer. A few llamas actually make good "pets" ... enjoying more attention and contact than many llamas seem to. Some llamas can "do it all."

Boy & BanjoAll llamas I sell are trained to be caught, haltered, and loaded into a livestock trailer easily. New buyers are given introductory training so that they're comfortable performing these tasks with the llama. I also provide a copy of Packing With Llamas as well as additional information on equipment and other resources for new llama owners. It's important to me that buyers get the llama they want, so I sell each llama with a 30-day, money back guarantee, and I am always available for follow-up questions on care and use of the llamas I sell.

Llamas are herd-oriented, social creatures. For this reason it is important to keep at least two llamas together, or to have other livestock living with a single llama. For more information and additional resources on the care and maintenance of llamas please visit the Llama Care page.

Pet Llamas

My definition of a "pet" or "companion" llama is one that is gentle, friendly, but not overbearing, and often lacks the athleticism or demeanor to be a working packer. I do not encourage overly-friendly behavior, and insist on a mutually respectful relationship with my llamas. Contact me for information on pet llamas available.

Prices

My llamas are priced in accordance with their level of training and end use. Pet and guard llama prices start at $100, breeding/packing llamas range from $750-$1500.

I stand behind what I sell. Buyers receive a halter, lead, Packing With Llamas, a 30-day money-back guarantee, and a llama's lifetime of support. I invite you to come for a visit to my ranch, take a hike with a llama, and learn what living with llamas is all about.

Llama Fiber

llama fiberLlama fiber is a wonderful by-product of these animals. They may be shorn or brushed out annually or every other year (depending on their wooliness), and the fleece can be spun or felted into wonderful creations. Generally llamas have a "double "coat -- coarser guard hair over softer undercoat. Some llamas have been bred to eliminate the guard hair, leaving a finer fiber over all. Single-coat fiber is not what I want for a pack animal who needs to shed the elements, but in our comfortable North American pastures with shelter, these animals produce a lovely fleece enjoyed by many fiber artisans.

I've used the wool from my llamas for everything from sweaters to socks to lead ropes. Every spring I have shorn fleeces, un-washed, available. I also have washed, carded roving ready for spinning available in a variety of colors. Contact me if you'd like more information on what products I have currently on hand for sale.
